advaita
Non-dual; without a second; without fear.
In Vedanta
The teaching that Brahman alone is real and there is no second entity apart from it. Advaita does not deny the empirical world but reveals that the world has no independent reality separate from Brahman. The mahāvākya 'tat tvam asi' directly reveals this non-duality — that the essential nature of the individual (tvam) is identical with the whole (tat).
