damaḥ
Mastery; control of sense organs and organs of action.
In Vedanta
Mastery over the sense organs and organs of action — the second of the six inner disciplines. While śama is the management of the internal mind, dama is the management of the external instruments. It is the capacity to not be compelled by sensory impulses, allowing the student to remain focused on the pursuit of knowledge rather than being pulled outward by attractions and aversions.
