dharmaḥ
Law; practice; custom; virtue; duty; propriety; order; attribute.
In Vedanta
The order that governs all of creation — physical, psychological, and moral. In Vedānta, dharma includes both the ethical order (right action) and the cosmic order. Living in accordance with dharma purifies the mind and prepares it for self-knowledge. However, dharma belongs to the realm of action (karma) and cannot by itself produce mokṣa. Knowledge alone liberates; dharma supports the pursuit of knowledge.
