īśvarah
Lord (Īśvarā); jagatkāraṇam; brahman manifest as the entire creation.
In Vedanta
Brahman associated with māyā — the all-knowing, all-powerful cause of the creation, sustenance, and dissolution of the universe. Īśvara is not a being separate from Brahman but Brahman viewed from the standpoint of the empirical world. Just as the jīva is Brahman with the upādhi of avidyā, Īśvara is Brahman with the upādhi of māyā. When the upādhis are removed, jīva, Īśvara, and Brahman are one.
