prāṇāyāmaḥ
Breathing practices - one of the eight aṅgas of Patañjali's Yoga.
In Vedanta
Breath regulation — valued in Vedānta as a preparatory practice (sādhana) for calming the mind and making it fit for self-inquiry. Prāṇāyāma is mentioned in the Gītā alongside sense-control and other disciplines. It is not considered a direct means to mokṣa but a support for the quieting of rajas and the cultivation of sattva in the mind.
