sādhanam
Means of accomplishment.
In Vedanta
The means or discipline that prepares the mind for self-knowledge. In Vedānta, sādhana does not produce mokṣa — since mokṣa is already the nature of ātmā — but it removes the obstacles that prevent the recognition of what is already the case. The primary sādhana is śravaṇam (listening to the teaching), manana (reflection), and nididhyāsana (contemplation).
