sattvam
Inner disposition of enjoyment; antaḥkaraṇa; the virtuous guṇaḥ.
In Vedanta
The guṇa of clarity, knowledge, and harmony. A sāttvika mind is transparent — it reflects consciousness most clearly, allowing the teaching to be heard and understood. Sattva is the quality most conducive to self-knowledge, but even sattva is a quality of māyā, not of ātmā. The goal is not to become purely sāttvika but to recognize oneself as beyond all guṇas.
