vidyā
Knowledge.
In Vedanta
Self-knowledge — the direct recognition of oneself as Brahman, which destroys avidyā. Vidyā is not intellectual information but the clear, doubt-free understanding (aparokṣa-jñāna) that removes the fundamental error of self-limitation. In the Upaniṣads, parā vidyā refers to knowledge of Brahman as distinct from aparā vidyā, all other forms of learning.
